CAMÍ DE CORMES 2018 VINYES CENTENÀRIES (17.5/20).
Carinyena planted in Peralada in 1896! Organic certified. Oak aged.
Amazing age of vines! Mid garnet. Very comfortable, well-integrated, unforced wine.
Powdery texture on the finish but really smooth, confident fruit on the mid palate.
Gorgeous! Great fruit and great winemaking judgment. A real testament to vine
age. Sweet start and then an appetisingly dry finish.

LA BOTERA 2008: a blend of Samsó and Merlot. Vivid purple. Initially reduced nose shows dark berry skin and cherry pit aromas with a hint of black pepper. A spicy, peppery midweight, offering chewy cherry and blackcurrant flavors and betraying no rough edges. Finishes slightly tart, with the cherry pit note repeating.
87 points
CAMÍ DE CORMES VINYES CENTENÀRIES 2006: 100% Samsó. Inky violet. Ripe cherry and plum on the faintly roasted nose. Rich, ripe and dense, offering chewy dark fruit flavors and a strong tannic frame. Brooding and tough to read, finishing with good grip and lingering notes of bitter chocolate and cherry pit.
87 (+) points
ROIG PARALS SAMSÓ VINYES VELLES 2005: Saturated ruby. Cherry and dark berry liqueur aromas are complemented by notes of cocoa, black cardamom and dried violet. Chewy and ripe, offering deep bitter cherry and blackcurrant flavors, with dusty tannins adding grip. At once serious and expressive, with strong finishing sweetness and a lingering note of bitter cherry. Still a bit primary and worth cellaring for another five years.
90 points
PLA DEL MOLÍ 2005: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon-30% Merlot. Cherry, licorice, cracked pepper and spices on the nose. Firm cherry and berry skin flavors are framed by dusty tannins, which add structure and back-end grip. The cherry note lingers on the dusty, slightly hard-edged finish. This needs a fatty piece of meat to help round off its coarse edges.

CAMÍ DE CORMES 2007 VINYES CENTENÀRIES (18/20). Juicy and well handled. Interesting hint of curry spice. Very local! Racy and long, with a beginning, middle and end to the experience of tasting it. “Same price as Château Gloria”. “My favourite red”!
It is made from a single vineyard of very old Carinyena with the oldest vines dating back to 1896. It’s clearly stuffed with local character. It even smells slightly of that dried grass or herb you find in southern France that smells a bit like curry powder.
FINCA PLA DEL MOLÍ 2007 CABERNET SAUVIGNON-MERLOT (16/20). Nicely balanced and appetising.

94 points: CAMÍ DE CORMES 2010 VINYES CENTENÀRIES. “Celler Petit Emporda Tasting”: the top wine from Roig Parals, sourced from an old, low-yielding vineyard named after a Civil War escape route through the Pyrenees. With incense and wild herbs on the nose, this is like walking into a Catholic church during high mass. Dense and concentrated, with subtle oak, layer upon layer of wild, spicy , herbal flavours, medium-weight, tarry tannins and a sweet core of fruit sustained by refreshing acidity.
93 points: CAMÍ DE CORMES 2010 VINYES CENTENÀRIES. It has an alluring, aromatic nose of blueberries, violets, subtle oak, sweet spices and smoked meats, balanced and very smooth, elegant, velvety, with extra-fine tannins and great, clean acidity. This is a superb, elegant rustic cariñena, well worth the asking price. Drink now-2020.
89 points: FINCA PLA DEL MOLÍ 2008. This has an evolved, quite classical nose of leather, cigar box, mint, blackberries and black pepper and a medium-bodied palate with polished tannins and very good acidity. It might not be terribly exciting, but it’s very good at what it is and represents good value. Drink now-2018.
86 points: LA BOTERA 2011. The nose blends the soft, red fruit aromas of Garnacha with the more rustic ones from Cariñena, damsons, some flowers and tree bark with spices from the oak aging. It’s quite tasty, with juicy fruit, fine-grained tannins and a slightly warm finish. Drink now-2017.
84 points: ROIG PARALS 2011. It has a slightly animal, organic nose with notes of soil, leather, licoroice and very ripe black fruit. The palate is medium to full-bodied, with flavors of ripe fruit and some dusty tannins. Drink now.
